Hobbies and interests……..

Hobbies and interests……..

Troy has many special talents and hobbies. He likes to bake and make things in the kitchen. His favorites are cake and desserts. Troy also likes to work around our little home. We bought our first home a few years ago and Troy has worked on the yard and house to make improvements. He loves to go to Home Depot and talk to contractors and others to get information on “do it yourself” projects. He has knocked a wall out and expanded our living space, he has taken the old back deck out and planted grass and every summer he plants a garden. He loves to work. Right now he is attending school so he can one day be a doctor and be able to provide well for his family while doing something he loves, taking care of others.

Alice loves to make and create things. She has a sewing/craft room where she has worked on many projects. She mostly makes things as gifts and gives them to family and friends. She has helped her nieces make dolls, she has made gifts every year for Christmas and she likes to scrapbook. Alice also likes to read and loves to find a good adventure novel or historical story to explore. She also likes to write poetry and had a goal to someday write a life story.

Alice has completed a degree in psychology with an emphasis in early childhood. She has found it a passion in her life to help children who are in need. She currently works for a child welfare agency and helps find placements for children in foster care who have been abused or neglected.

Spending time together……

Spending time together……

Troy and I have loved spending time together and never get tired of being with each other. We love mostly to explore the outdoors. We have been blessed to live in places where there are lots of water falls and hikes. We love to explore new places and drive some days without a destination and end up where ever the road takes us. These impromptu trips have been some of our most fun and memorable days together. Most of all we love to talk and laugh.

We also like to spend time with family and friends. We enjoy all our nieces and nephews and we love to hear about all of their achievements and life experiences. Troy and I are each others best friends and are very excited to start a family of our own and to continue to explore the world around us with our children.

Our Dog ...Pepper

Troy and I talked about getting a dog in when we first got married. I was not really keen on the idea but Troy had grown up in a family where there was always a dog and there was lots of love for their pets.

One day after we had been married for a couple of years, Troy took me to the dog shelter and that was it. As we asked for the room where the puppies were kept, it was love at first sight.

There he was a little tiny puppy who had been abandoned. We adopted him and brought him home. He was named Pepper by the staff at the shelter and it fit him well. I was home at the time and not working due to being ill so Pepper became my companion and was a wonderful lift to my spirits. Pepper has fit in to our family and loved all the children who have come into our home. When I had a daycare for a while he loved to run and play with the children in the back yard. Pepper is a very protective and nervous dog and can get carried away when someone comes to the door, but we love him and his special needs. Pepper is a loving animal and part of our family.

How we met……

How we met……

Troy and I became friends after I had returned from a mission for my church. We attended a single adult group together and we were part of a group of friends who spent most weekends together. Many days we ended up at my house and Troy became close to my family. He even lived at my parent’s home as he prepared for a mission and I attended college. After many years of true platonic friendship we realized that we had additional feelings for each other. At the time I was in Utah attending school and Troy was in California . We had a long distance engagement for eight months as I completed my degree, then we were married in February in Oakland Ca. and began our married life together. Because of our long friendship we had a wonderful foundation that has blessed us with communication skills, laughter, memories and true love.
